Currently on the Hero6, which already has image stabilization. Nice images but the damn thing freezes up so often while riding. Have already put in a more expensive SD card but it still happens too often. Anybody else have this problem?
Had that too. but that was solved on the last Firmware update

Hi,

So looking at the GP7 Black on the Website, the main new things are:

1) Better Stabilisation
2) HDR Photos
3) Timelapse/Hyperlapse Video
4) A lot cheaper than the GP6 Black on launch.

What do I think about it? It's a nice update, but nothing revolutionary. I was hoping for a big jump like 8k 24p Video, or at least 5.1K video that would allow 4K Stabilized uncropped. However it looks like the stabilised footage is dropped almost 15%.

I think I will wait for another generation. I am actually quite happy with my GP6 after tall the bugs were sorted out with Firmware updates.

Gopro is dead to me - I bought this rylo and have not looked back. Crazy stability, almost flawless interface, simple to use.

Good call on the Rylo. Forgot to mention them.

If the GP7 doesn't make good on the "gimbal like stabilization" I'm going to look closer at the Rylo. (there's still some quirks to the Rylo.....the editing interface on your phone/device kind of sucks)

I hate to beat the dead horse on the stabilization part, but as a mountain biker/kiter there's no way I'm wearing a gimbal. You show anyone video with footage that is shaky and their eyes glaze over in .0234 nanoseconds. Myself included.

Thanks for posting that windsuks. Casey Neistat's reviews are usually pretty honest and straightforward.

I actually pulled the trigger last night on a Hero 7 Black. After watching Casey's review, DC Rainmaker's and Mic Begisma's all very positive review I thought I'd gamble on one. The other nice thing is if you get it off of GoPro's website they'll give you $100 discount off the 7 Black if you trade in ANY old GP or digital camera*. So it was a happy moment to box up my bricked original Hero and send that POS back to them for $100.
They even pay the freight to get it back.

So $299 for a new gimbal-less action cam that works with my GP Smart remote, my editing software, (big strike for me with the Rylo) line mount and all the other GP accessories it just made the most sense. (plus I had about $250 in credit card points my wife wasn't aware of....)

I'll guinea pig it for Kiteforum.

For me the big new feature for the 7 black is the 3 mic wind reduction. My biggest issue with my videos is wind noise so this is actually a big deal.

Better stabilization is nice to have but I find the 5 session to have decent stabilization already.

I don't want to give up the size and weight of the session though. Also I much prefer the floaty for the session for 2 reasons:
1) it offers a lot of protection to the camera as it's basically a foam outer case
2) it offers protection to my face if getting hit by the camera when wiping out (I use a mouth mount)

I wonder if there are any 3rd party floaties available for the larger form factor that do a full wrap around instead of just bulking up the back. I don't actually understand how you use the LCD with the floaty back on anyway.

I was not impressed with the Hero 7 based on the reviews. Yes the video looked stable but the video was sub par and the audio was muffled. Gopro used to lead the pack now it seems like they are playing catch up.

Here is my review of the Rylo https://youtu.be/ZNRK6FlAuX0
