And I knew instantly that you and "Adventure Logs" are Yanks using Dude all over the place on this forum (EU). You are more than welcome to start the US forum, or:
Learn your manners. Dude might be 2x older than yourself and 3x more involved in this sport.
I don't really understand using a"dude" on the Forum where everyone is way over 40ties (or 50ties, or 60ties)...Very selfish, and shortsighted term in my books.
With due respect to all parties concerned:
The most excellent word “dude” on a (kite)SURFING forum is right where it should be. It is a term of endearment that has brought watersports enthusiasts together for many decades, even (or especially) when used in the context of a disagreement.
Dude, why so heavy man, lets hit the water and shred some gnar.
Umm, you are assuming that I’m a native English speaker. Maybe even an Aussie.
I’m not either.
Hence, to me, as an European, the word dude is nothing but Americanism. Promoted by today’s culture. Sad really, and selfishly thinking that everyone and anyone should adapt to the community standards of spoken English.
Heavy or not, when on an International Forum, some due care or manners are applicable to the people of different background and even culture one has no clue about. Do a gesture on an International Airport in some countries might put you in jail
Dear Sir or Madam
I make no assumptions about you, other than you probably enjoy kiteboarding. Did you assume I was an ocean-going reptile? No you did not.
This is a worldwide forum as you say, welcoming people from all countries. Why should cultural influence not come through in the posts?
More interesting than everyone trying to sound the same, even though its all writen in english.
Nobody is trying to make you use the term dude in your posts. You may use any term you choose!
As for manners, Im all for it.

This thread is whats wrong with Kitesurfing.
The fact that the posts that show up from new guys asking questions on what kite size to get or why they keep getting their ass handed to them are getting two or three responses and the bollocks stuff like this moaning about "the industry" get 6 pages.
Also taking offence over being called dude is pathetic.
