Looks like interesting conditions Thursday and Friday as the storm known as Michael goes by inland of Hatteras. SE winds with rain forecast on Thursday and NW on Friday. Hoping it is manageable enough tomorrow for some ocean downwinders from Buxton onwards. Lots of kiters out here right now so hope everyone manages to stay safe.

I envy those on the island who are going to be able to ride 5m kites and boost to the skies. Lucky you guys!

The outer bands of Michael rocked OBX yesterday with great conditions all day. We first did a long ocean downwinder on 9m Pivot in the morning in broken up surf and 25-30 mph SEaster. Then in the afternoon big jumping session at Canadian Hole on 7m Pivot as the wind increased to 40mph. Last night our house was rocking and creaking with wind gusts to around 70mph. Sound water came up to our driveway, but no more. This morning many chased the decreasing NW wind, but I was too beat to bother. Closest I've come to a hurricane, and it was a lot of fun. Sorry for all the folks in the Florida panhandle who lost their lives, homes, businesses, or boats.
