I tried it a couple of times, can not say exactly why but found it more annoying when winding lines up, if not doing figure 8's...

It is also like everything sits tighter and better when figure 8 winding so less risk of lines dropping off the ends.

Only me and has others found it works just as well or better?

Simply a matter of getting used to, doing it every single time for a long period till used to it?

I didnt like it, having done it a couple of times :-?

Both work.

I find just winding works better for me. Cleaner, seems to be less line twists and the lines spool off the bar when I'm setting up.

I used to try to speed rig before, it's just not worth making a mistake in the sake of gaining an extra 90 seconds on the water. Something to consider if your launch has consequences for not getting it right every time.

Do the first half length of lines in figure 0 …then the second half in figure 8....it works great...combine them both

Sounds like a really good idea PullStrings - a tad faster and still locks the lines better when getting towards the ends :thumb:

Looks like many seasoned kiters on here ....we each have some good ways
Finishing in figure 8 for the last 1/3 or 1/2 really does lock the lines on the bar more securely
Starting in figure 0 makes sense because of the floats..depower line thickness....cleat & hardware etc...might get less of a bulge in the middle...cleaner start in my opinion

Thought of one good thing about packing kite with lines on...especially when you ride late + it's getting dark...and you are chatting about session with your buddies...excited & tired
It has happened several times to my friends who detach
They get home ....unpack their cars and say....oh no !!!
I forgot my bar/lines on the beach

I'll get a call or text to go look for it and keep until we ride again

:wink2:
