Anyone riding a Naish Pivot (2018/19) 7m as their high wind kite. I currently have a full set of Torch's and thinking of swapping the 7m for a pivot (84kg). What are they like in 35 to 45mph winds, how is the jumping and hang time ?
thanks

I thinking about the same Topic, currently I have 12m Pivot and 10,8 Enduro und thinking about changing also the 8m Enduro to 7/8 m Pivot, regarding to more hang time or maybe directly to Edge or Hyper.

Billy, the Naish Pivots come in three editions so far. The original is 2015/2016 and I have the 7m and 9m from those years and love them. Great jumping and hangtime. The 2017/2018 versions are basically the same but with the quad ripstop and some additional beefing up. I'm told they generate a bit more power, but I don't have one (I just bought a 2018 11m, but it is in the USA and I am in Cape Town for two months). The 2019 models have a slightly smaller leading edge that has to be pumped even harder. I rode the 9m version at a kite demo at Bloubergstrand last weekend and it is a great kite, but the wind was not strong enough to really tell just how well it will jump. Kevin Langaree has a few comments about it in his recent vlogs from Cape Town, and will surely use it in the KOTA in 2019. The only kite that compared with it at the demo was the 2019 Eleveight RS 9m, but I did not get to ride the Duotone or Cabrinha kites. It is telling that the local kite repair expert, Paul Lagesse at Second Wind Sails, just bought the 2019 Pivot 7m. He's an expert rider and loves the strong conditions we usually get here in summer, although so far not that much this season.

7m Pivot will be nice in 30-40 knots at your weight. It will be technically easier to jump than your Torches and will have more hang time. Having a good C-kite-schooled jumping technique will have you getting most out of the kite. I had all versions since 2015, currently on the 2019. 2017-2019 has the Quadtex material and all are good choices.
If it replaces your Torch, the 7m will replace a Torch at least 1m larger. I went from Parks 1m down to get similar windranges out of the kites.

The pivot 7 is super. It jumps pretty aggressively and has great hangtime. In 40 mph, you'll be very powered for sure. It is a fast kite in every respect, but still feels very stable. I have not ridden the 2019 Pivot in 7, but the 9 has a significant change in the strut and LE size. Feels faster without losing the stability. The newer versions of the pivot is a tad more aggressive than the initial versions so you will enjoy there. I do think that people that enjoy the Torch should definitely also look at the Dash since it has its blueprint from the torch shape and the kite is a tad more similar in how it rides. I guess the question should be what you intend to use the kite for?

Nice. Once you get to try it out in some nuking wind, let us know how it works for you. It's much easier to use than the Torch IMO, and its easier to correct errors.
