I can tell you my buddys formula for going huge: max load the lines by edging hard up wind, max throw the kite from as deep in the zone as you can get it, this however is not recomended for your first jump. maybe just go on a reach with the kite fairly high and send it back passed the top of the window then imeadatly bring it back over head. presto you be flying fo sure. take it easy till you get comfy then you can make your own formula.hope this helps. PS most new guys jump without trying too, wats up never tasted the air before are you sure your going out and back?

first airs can be changed to first controled airs by keeping kite where your upwinding. This if beginning tends to be in a scared high position. Perfect cause just keep it a liitle in front and high. From here we don't touch the kite just board towards the kite a little then reef right the *$@!%away as hard as you can sink your heels. You won't have a choice and you''ll be up in the air with your kite in perfect position for planing away. Won't be high but controlled. From there start swinging the kite on the next ones. Max air is by the most resistance you can put on. RESISTANCE. Too many people think ya gots to be machin'it and that aint so. Just drive away from that kite and going towards will allow the edge to sink in abit as well the timing will be much easier. You won't decide now it will tell you yer coming with it. Add the speed later for 40's and+.That's words but understanding is another.

Dude... Start small and work your way up. A good jump starts by being in control, just cruise along, you don't have to go fast or edge harder or anything. Fly the kite at about 60 degrees above the water. Pull softly on your back hand and down on the bar and feel the lift of the kite change and pull you up a little. Now get going again kite in the same place pull harder and down on the bar and edge upwind just before the kite lifts you. Then pull on the front hand again to keep going. Just keep increasing how hard you pull on your back hand and work on edging the board just before the kite lifts you out of the water and before you know it you'll be flying. Control is much more important than just yanking on the bar. I hate to see people learn to jump by just yanking the kite from sea level and flying fast and low into a leashed board experience. Remember control, start small by pulling harder each time with the kite at about 60 deg above the water and once you start getting air try edging the board harder and harder. Don't forget to pull on your front hand after reaching the highest point of your jump. Let me know how it goes.
