Well last year they were both pretty good kites and both seemed to get great reviews. For the 2003 lineup, I can't really say much yet. Haven't ridden any new North products yet. I can say though that the Slingshots are turning and handling even better this year than they were last year, and they did pretty well last year too. If you get one of these, I don't think you will be at all disappointed.

Anyone here ridden the new Slingshots and the new North's?

As far as price of the kites...I think the Rhino's and Slingshots are comparable in price. Neither brand is the least expensive brand on the market by a long shot. A 12m Fuel complete with bar is like $1249 USD, and about $1049 kite only. The 16m is $1419 complete and $1219 kite only.

I think, that considering the steps up in durability on all the 2002 kites, the 2003 are really something to look forward to.

Naish was definitely the pick of 2002, but with the new models coming from Wipika, Slingshot, Cabrinha, North, etc we have a promising year of some quality kites coming up...fast, more durable.etc

What impresses me already was the improvements on the 2002 models as it is, and for those who can't afford the 2003's, the 2002 old stock is definitely not gonna be a loss.

That's right... no excuse for not having good gear as everything is good now.

Just a matter of choosing what kite type suits you the best... conditions, wind speed, board type..... jumping, wakestyle, waveriding...

12 and 18 Rhino 2 would be my choice. 12 and 16 is too close with a 2003 North. The range is extreme.
