Hey,

Need some help. I want to replace my ar5 11,5. Besides this kite I have a ARX 17,5 and I use the Airush wakestyle 141...my weight 75 kg.

What about the 2002 model SS Fuel 10. Is this kite really so hard to depower...? And till how many knots can I use this kite in comb with my 141? I want to have a kite which I can use in the higher windrange. I use my 17,5 till about 18-20 knts.

I heard that the Fuel is, like my Naish arx 17,5, flown on the backlines. For example the x2 uses the frontlines. What is better...Hope you can help me.

well, thats a matter of opinion.
i don't like the fuel 10 ... others do.
the deep profile makes it hard to depower, but the airs are huge.
i've ridden it in about 28knots and didn't feel very comfortable. you can depower the kite good by edging the board.
the slingshot's a very aressive kite IMHO.

The difference is that a front line flyer is by far the future of kiting because of its depowering capabilities. It is possable to go too far in kite evolution. If so efficient akite it would mean you could never park it. As well a benefit to fronters is that an experienced rider can pull back lines so much and then kite will fly backwards. This move rules in many situations. BIG BIG airs the apparent wind on the way down makes your kite surge too far forward in the window and hindenburg. Well once in air and at peak pull the hell out of back lines and will stall kite for added hang and no figure eighting is necessary. This may or may not make sense depending on knowledge but high end front line is just more flight options. As well when riding along and under powered instead of bringing kite up and then deeper you can pull those back lines hard and instead of tractor pull it flies backwards (stalls) itself deeper into window and then release back line tension so forward fligt begins again and your off with more power. Just plane LAZY. AS well railsliding you can pull backlines once again and kite will stall where you left it allowing a straight pull (stay on Rail)If you can't do this stall then kite flies forward and which ever way forward may not be ideal for long rails because it will pull you off. Ocean rodeo kites work for me. Had AR5 and now realize difference between front or back tension.a lot at once but very real in evolution as I see it.

Thanks for the reply's guys!

What I do wonder is the "gusty wind" capacity of the 2002 SS Fuel 10. Is it true that a frontliner is also better in gusty conditions...?

I also thought to buy an X2, in my opinion the X2 is to nervous for me, how about hang time differance?

A good thing of the SS is that I can buy one for 749 Euro..brand new incl. bar/lines. Sounds like a good deal to me,......do you guys think I will regret to buy the SS.

I'm sure that you will love the kite. I had a chance to fly it as well (I fly X2), and it is great.
it turns fast and has heaps of power. as somebody else mentioned it can be flown in high winds by edging the board. for that price, dont bother looking for other stuff.

slinhgshots home is in the gusty gorge. their kites are designed and tested in gusty conditions. personally i dislike gusty winds, but when i'm in them, slingshots do ok. buy the kite, you wont be unhappy. if you are, sell it to me!
