I noticed on a previous post that Dwight has been using a North Toro 2 / 16. When can the general public get these things? Since the Toros were released in around summer 2002, do we have to wait until next summer?

I don't know the date. Last year it was around Feb/March. I think that time frame might be a good guess. It was the 18, not 16.

Dwight,

What improvements have they incorporated with your 18 Toro2 prototype ? Is your version close to production model? Your initial impression with kite details and performance.

I’m not supposed to talk about it yet. But I think everybody knows kites get better with each new version. I will tell you guys all about when I’m told it’s OK. Sorry, I shouldn’t have even let you know I had it. I was just so thrilled to get it, it was hard.

Dwight,

That's cool! Can you at least give me a thumbs up or down. I'm close to buying 2002 Toro kites (very nice year end deal!) but might hold off until Toro2 arrives (probably not such a good deal  ).

I wouldn't wait on the new kites. There is way too much kiting between now and March 2003. The current Toro is still a HOT kite. Kites always get better, you know that already.

Johnny K, I concurred with Dwight. I'm currently on the toro kites and they are smooth and forgiving. Very well balance with no complaints. Don't get too caught up with the Toro2 unless you have the time and money to wait until March. I was on Slingshots before this but found the Toro more suited for my style. My only complaint, if you call it a complaint, is the slightly curved bar and chhicken loop depower strap. It took a few sessions to get accustom to the bar, but the depower strap is fully integrated to the loop making the adjustment difficult. I will convert to an airush system for better adjustment.

Good luck, Jimbo (LA)

This may be why I got to try the new one. To make sure guys like me, think it's still all of the above.

You can always buy it "kite only" then buy the bar you like. I always buy my kites like that.

Dwight, What bar and chicken loop system do you recommend?

Jimbo
