I am looking for info/feedback/reviews on these kites, especially how they compare to other higher AR kites. If you've got one or have tried one I would like to read about it.

The OR Bronco seems to be a good kite, stable like other 2002's (I think?), well made, and good materials. I've found a few reviews here and there, but not much comparing it to other kites

Thanks

I've heard people comparing them to the Rhino 1s. Are they coming out with anything new in 2003?

hi Mike, we ordered a 16 and a 12 but they didnt have the bar ready so we still havent sold the kites yet. I brought them from NY to Mexico my last trip.

I only flew the 16 and in about 10 knots. I can tell you that it is quite a bit heavier than the Takoon (arent they all?) and it kindof compares with the 2002 slingshot of teh same size.

It is probably teh MOST reinforced kite ive ever seen. Very beefy. Even the kite bag is stronger and nicer than my standard high peaks back pack...i think the bag itself is 1/4 the cost of the kite!:)

I never got to feel the kite powered up, so unfortunately no input for you there. The LE is pretty fat (big diameter) on the 16 and pulling in the bar didnt seem to "funnel" the kite as much as most others ive seen. Again, without it being taut full of wind its hard to judge.

i bought it thinking i might replace my 14 takoon with it and get a bit more low end...no way in hell though. Its probably as powerful as my 14 slingshot 2002.

the blue and green model is quite nice graphics too. they say the bar is going to be kickass.

good luck

I have got a mate over here that brought the complete range 9 thru 21 back from canada. He replaced out all of his air blast lifts with them. He is really enjoying them and his kiting has improved heaps.

The are a mid aspect kite but he is still getting good jumps and they also seem to have a good wind range. Supper easy to reluanch even the 21 from deep water.

I havent had a fly yet so can only go on what i have seen on the water and what he has said about them.

One of the sponsored slingshot riders told him that they flew pretty much the same as the slings if this helps

i would have to say i am definately one of the best people to ask about O.R. kites. I am, as of a month, a team rider. I bought my first because i liked them. Now I get them for R&D. I have used every size but the six. They are the bomb. I may sound buyest but i paid for my first. Any questions at all and I'll be happy to go through with you. The kite construction is a tough succer. I ride on gravel beaches and barnacle filled rocks with big kites. So flipping is a bitch, Dragging the corners and all. It is the only one i've seen hold up. I was at a popular spot for Canada riders and have seen and flown most available. This,FOR ME, is the one. They do need a little more size for the wind but what they lose in bottom end wind range they triple in top end wind range. I have crashed the thing at least a thousand times cause i pushed my trick level extremely. I CRASHED and BURNED tonnes. But my kite is beauties still. I have over 500+ hours on my 16 M and that is in 5 months. I know the kite blind folded. The bar is awesome and will be available in one month. It is cutting edge tech with safety. All questions will be answered to the best of my knowledge and neutral point of view. You say impossable but I chose them before they chose me. Tip#2 buy Q-power line and save frusration. IT will help your water time emmensely. keep asking cause Volunteering sounds unfair to other companies. But they ruled my world. 1 1/2 years and now sponsored. The kite works for me. NO repairs noworries. string up and keep kiting. To improve kite in air board on feet. and that is when your learning.

I don't fly them, but we have a few hot riders around here that do. They seem to work well and they don't have any durability problems.

Thanks for the info, exactly what I was looking for! I need a smaller 9m or so kite for fall/winter and heard these kites are bomber. We have crappy beaches with rocks and barnacles so durability is important. Have you ridden X2's? I have an X2 12m and wonder how similiar they are. I would guess they will be different but not that much. A little slower would be good for small sizes. What would you say is the upper wind range for the 9m? I weigh 180lbs/80kg, ride a 147*38

Thanks
Mike S

I am a power hungry $#@%$@#@%$@#. I have yet to max the 9M. It has not blown out of my range on the twelveM. I have Nice 13 bindings with 151 Epic custom and a low center of gravity with a seat harness. I know how to resist... For your abilities it is a tough question cause misinformation can kill so top end wind window on nine is a personal one. To be honest and truthfull the real answer is in your hands. In kiting first is first and that is you are in control of your life. You and only can make these decisions. If I give advice take with grain of salt because it is all just opinions.(9m max is over 40 knots) but that is for my skills and specific comfortableness with my gear. Sorry to be general but just want every one to learn equally for the good of all.

Marley!! where the hell are you kiting in ONtario getting 500 hours in 5 months??!! I lived in Buffalo 8 years (and my poor brother still does live there and suffers even more now that i turned him onto kiting) and never got that much consistent wind!

Port Stanley..thats on lake ontario? how far from Toronto or, lets say, from Crystal Beach? I gotta get my brother up to wherever you are.

It was in B.C. that I accumulated my hours. I will let out a secret haven because if someone held out on me i'd be pissed. 20 knots 40 hrs a week on a dollar a day. Nitinat lake on Vancouver island. I just don't care anymore I want everyone to have as much fun as i with their passions. Ride hard die free.
