Looking at the videos and contest it seems that the pros can just go flying without sending the kite in the other direction.
Is it just by loading by edging as hard as they can then releasing, or is there a more subtle technic by trying to use the board flex and pop?
I tryied but can't seem to have the board work for me by stomping the back foot.

can anybody give details?

Thks in advance.

im no pro but i think what you are refering to is called a no pop, you just launch off some chop and leave your kite parked, as in no pop 360,etc.

try the following:

-keep the kite high and go upwind.
-then, fall from your upwind course and gain some speed
-then edge as hard as you can.

you should catapult yourself out of the water into the incredible height of a few centimeters.

practise this and make yourself comfortable, learning the exact timing and point, where you leave the water.
the more you edge, the higher you get.

after that,
keep the kite at about 60°.
do basically the same, but send the kite back,
making the pop right after the kite passes the zenit - your jump will get bigger.

fokitten,

do you mean a 'no whip' (not whipping the kite back to jump) ?

it can be done in flat water...

Thks Murdoc but can you explain what do u do exactly to POP?
The technic I'm reffering to is to jump without sending the kite in the opposite direction of travel.

"making the pop right after the kite passes the zenit"

the pop is what i described earlier.
just get from your upwind-course to a course 90° to the wind-direction, gain a little speed and edge as hard as you can via your back foot.

this will get your board to go more upwind than possible and you're lifted up a little.

play around with it and you'll see where to put the pressure to get more or less pop.

jump hard to get higher ...

try a backflip - just throw yourself into the rotation ...

Make sure you are well powered so that your weight is nearly all supported by your kite (near zenith)...

Then spring upwards like you would jumping on land and the uplift of the kite goes some way to cancelling your weight and it's like jumping on the moon....

cruising upwind slow and controlled, kite is about 50-60 deg. off water and depending on your size and wind the kite placement is asfar as possable in the side of the window you are travelling. cruising and parked. go downwind ten feet say(towards kite) then just try to ride further upwind then ever drive away like no other. the gotowards will give you lots of board control and then drive away. you will be ripped off the water. flat, wave, whatever, this technique is the won. if understandable. towards then against and fly. not moving kite will bring you back down soft and planing after a big pop. The more pop is by how sharp and how hard you drive upwind or away from kite. Key is start slow cause you need that board control. Overpowered always helps. It is a rare case that your too overpowered on big kite creating drag. So go big and let me know to best explain.
