i mostly grab the board by the nose instead of a footstrap - IMO it's easier to keep balanced then.

if you're struggeling with all this, there are different ways to help:
when i loose my board (i use bindings, so this doesn't happen very often, but when it happens, im very far away from the board), it's enough if someone just turns it that it points downwind with straps/bindings up. that'll make the board travel downwind faster and it's better visilble for the guy searching it.


another way is to take the board in one hand, bend your knees (with the board attached) and bodydrag till you're a little downwind of the boardless rider.
not much style, but very effective.
