Hey dude(s),

I recently paired the 17 Fuel with my 12 Rhino. I dont think there is gap between them. Obviously if you want to sail in the sweet spot all the time then you should go with something closer, but you will have no problem have them as a 2 kite combo.

I have used it in as low a 6 kts (gusty crap) and reckon I need 10 kts to get going properly (147 WT and 90kg/200lb) but its really a guess as the wind is really shite round here, and I am too busy with exams to get to the coast.

Later,

Pete.

Yeah sounds right, with a wider board (44-50) you should be able to get down to about 7-8

HMM! This is the second time I have been told this. I just tried it from the "Contact Us" button on our website and it mails to webmaster@tablablah.com but I didnt get it. Seems like I have an issue with my email on that account. Will look into that tomorrow. HOWEVER....the one used on the local core page, which is the same one used here, which is johnny@tampabaykitesurf.com seems to come through fine to me. Greg told me he had to try twice as well. Very odd indeed. I want your emails to reach me. Use the johnny@ address, or goto the "Local Core" page of our site and click on 'Contact Johnny' next to my name. Sorry for the probs.

Johnny

why dont you just tell him the bottom end rather than tell him to search you arrogant prick

Is this what you think of me? With all the help I give, all the reviews I write, all the support I offer...making pages for contests that have no page...doing tech support through email at the rate of 10 or more a day...and you call me an arrogant prick? Imagine that! Why is it not in the least bit surprising to me that you didn't sign in or sign your name to that post? Why should I spend more time writing something that I have already done more than once beacuse someone doesn't use or doesn't know about the seacrh function? I thought I was doing good, I answered 1/2 his question the best I could then tried to introduce him to the search feature. Where did I go wrong? Am I relly that arrogant or are you just a hater for some reason? Are you jealous of someone or something? Didn't your mother ever teach you that if you have nothing nice to say then it's best to say nothing at all? Why am I even wasting my time talking to you? Not worth my trouble.

Totally uncalled for. Many hours were spent writting about this by various people. The search will give you what you need. These same people will write more as new things are learned.

Alan

Thank you Alan. I'm glad some people here can understand the importance of time. And you are right too! I think it would be to my and everyone elses advantage if I spent my free time writing something new instead of rewriting what has already been done over and over.

Hi Anonymous,
Personaly I can't see any arrogance in Johnny's help, he's given us loads of info on the new SS kites, take a chill pill dude, have you helped Pedro or anyone more than Johnny?

Hi Pedro,
I think the wind ranges on the white reef site are pretty accurate

http://www.white-reef.com/Kite/Wings/Fuel_2003.htm

Jo

WAY TO GO JO! You read that sort of noise and even reply nicely with a "Hi anonymous". I appreciate your support as well.
FOR THE RECORD....the info Jo Mac is referring you guys to on the whitereef site is accurate as it was put out by SlingShot. Whitereef didnt make it up, and they didnt base it on their own tests...these are graphics and charts supplied to dealers by SlingShot themselves. Our new Fuel page will be updated tomorrow I think and it too will have some of the same graphs and grahics as the whitereef site, as will alot of sites, cause like I said, it's coming from SlingShot.

Thanks for the information
One more thing, looking to the kite standing on the beach the 17 looks smaller than other 16 m kites, but it is larger. What is the AR for SS fuel 2003 kites? i want numbers  it really looks low AR if u look to rhino2 or x2.

Thanks again.

Dont put too much thought into how your kite looks next to the others on the beach. Let the kites performance speak for itself. You can make it have the feel of a low AR kite or a high AR kite by where you attach your lines to it. Slingshot has 3 LEI kites of different AR's. The Fuel, the GTO, and the Torque...respectively. The Fuel is the highest AR of their lineup and their highest performace kite. I know..you want actual numbers! It's hard though cause the AR of each size of Fuel may change a little bit from size to size. I think a year or so ago, some companies were trying to markets kites saying they use VAR technology or something to that effect. VAR means Variable Aspect Ratio, and basically what they were saying it that the AR is a little differ from size to size. No great break through there though as I think most all kites are like this. You can't build a 7m kite that works well, then just double all the numbers and build a good working 14m...doesn't work that way. Each size is different so each will have it's own AR. They are mostly AR five point something. You want actual numbers though so I will get you actual numbers. Give me a day though. I wont be able to access that information again until Monday(tomorrow).

I get planing pretty fast on the f-one  and my experience is 90% lightwind, im used to it

I've told it here before and this I will say again.....lightwind riding is something that requires practice and technique. I too spent the better half a a year trying to learn underpowered. Because of that, I am quite adept at riding in light winds. If Pedro says he can do it too, I believe him cause I can too and it sounds like he started alot like I did....underpowered.

Thanks for your help and input on this subject and thread Pete. You seem to hold an answer that someone is seeking. Your help is appreciated as well.
