I didn't do it myself.
But I'm pretty sure he went upwind without a problem, since he has 2 edges to push in and from the angle of the pic in the middle he did go upwind.

yep, very easy to go upwind. most of the edging was done using my inside ski. i reckon if i had of persevered long enough i would have been able to get up on a single ski.

Keep trying on one and let us know.

What Kite were you using? Did you feel able to hold a bigger kite / Go faster with the sam kite compared to your normal board?

Ciao

Mike

hey mike,

i have used skis on two occations and both times i used my 16m rhino in about 15 knot winds. if i was out on my kiteboard (extreme quake 147) i would have definately been going faster than i was on the skis.

i assume by asking whether i could have held a bigger kite you are interested in knowing if i could have handled more power ? yeah, i reckon i could have. however, i think it might be difficult going upwind if you have too much power - skis don't have much of a body to push against the water and resist the downwind pull of the kite when edging (if that makes sense).

to get up on the single ski i reckon i would have needed more grunt (bigger kite or more wind).

it was a lot of fun, and if you're a water skier it is well worth trying.

see ya.
