Gusty conditions and kites are dangerous. I was out with xboy and we saw at least 5 kites launch on their own with gusts. Xboy caught a runaway kite while he was walking back upwind with someone else's kite that had runaway about 2 minutes earlier.(2 kites at once...the 2nd one was headed straight for him and fortunately, no lines attached and he could just catch it (5m Wipika LTR)

I wouldn't say any brand is more guilty. I saw cabrinha's, wipi's, naish's and airrush's lift on their own. The sandbag is a damn good idea...thing I might just keep one in my car.

After a good kiting session I also find I can use the sandbags to protect myself in times of conflict by U.S. Marines.
