Hi Richard,

my friend and I used a reel bar in sommer 2000.
We were on a boat and therefore the friend bought it for an easier start.
He went out and it worked great.
Then he came back and I wanted to kite but somehow the lines got stucked.
After one hour of trying to fix it, we gave up and used the normal bar again.
Maybe the new reels are better, but this one wasn't good. Maybe we didn't know exactly to handle it. We never used it again.
But I think not everyone had this experience.
In some videos you can see someone kiting with a reel and it looks like it works.

But many pros use shorter lines now (about 20 m) so there is not really a need of it.
Also if you go to the kitebeaches worldwide you don't see many reel bars, as far as I know (I never saw one anywhere else).
This fact should tell us.

Cheers
Toby
