i will be in Kauia forX mas week. Anybody know what the situation is down there. What kind of wind to expect and where to go.

I think you mean Kauai. Christmas can be difficult. Wind is not consistent at this time of the year but it can blow. If we get regular trades most spots will have 15-25kts. if we get a frontal passage then the wind can be unpredictable 15-35tks. gusty with variable wind directions. You can also expect very large surf on the North and West sides of the island. Today we are under a high surf advisory which means waves in excess of 8 meters in height. All in all make sure that you talk to someone before you go out almost all of our spots have some kind of serious hazard involved. Landing and launching always seems to envolve dodging trees, powerlines, and rocks. Learning here pretty much means buying a used kite and feeding it to the trees. One of the trees at Anini Beach on the North shore is famous. Some people believe that it actualy reaches out and grabs kites
