These are totally new kites. There is no comparing them with the old Airblast. The power of the AMP 10,33 lies but a little below that of the AB 11,8 it is therefore a lot more powerful than before.
You can really feel the superior power of the AMP causing the depower to decrease a little howerver they still remain in perfect balance.
The lift has also increased giving those with a little more steering experience a sensibly longer hangtime followed by a soft landing.
The AMP also gives a lot more stability in the air than the AB and has a better response time. Axial turns are a lot easier which makes playing with the kite a real pleasure.
During the test we didn't experience any backward flying by oversheating.
As with the airblast gaining hight in relation to the wind remains unchanged and even improved with less wind by the high end-power. Downwind the kite becomes more powerful and axial turns become a feast in the waves.
The AMP 11,9 is virtually identical to the 10,3 but I was surprised by the gliding properties at 10 knots with my weight of 85KG on the new sessionboard.
We had an extended interview with the designer of these kites which originated in the world of para-gliding where they were perfected. One of his improvements was replacing the rope in the rear body(leach) of the kite by a piece of tape. The rope had the tendency to shrink when getting wet causing the decrease of depower and gliding capacities.
He also told us that the AMP 13,5 would become the "Greased Lightning" of our stable and that it would be available beginning 2003. We are looking forward to it but wait and see.
Those were our experiences after 5 days of testing in Tarifa with wind between 9 and 20 knots.
We thank our importer "RAFWAVE" for this fun experience.

The AMP10.3/14m2 has a new bridle system.
The pulley is located further forward, so you get a harder bar pressure (you can "feel" the kite), which is good.
And you can still reverse launch.
Excellent.
It is delivered standard without bridles (and for this 14m2 you really don't need it that much).
But now you can change between bridled and non-bridled easier now (in different sizes it might be useful) without having huge problems adjusting to the feel.
I have ridden the AMP14m2 wihtout bridles most of the time.
I will assume the upper wind limit is about the same as for the AB11.8/16m2 - but have not been out in overpowered conditions yet.

mabew someone has a table with sizes projected as well as surface and windrange for the sizes.

Is there already a comparism to the Airblast range ?

Wipika 2003 AMP sizes:
5.4 7.4m2
7.1 9.6m2
8.7 11.8m2
10.3 14.0m2
11.9 16.2m2
13.5 18.4m2
15.1 20.6m2

Windrange estimate: One size more power, meaning the 14m2 (10.3) has the same bottom end as the Airblast 16m2 ( 11.8 )

It is really good to see, that now you can choose the sizes you wan't for a quiver - also to combine with kitesizes you have in advance.
You only need every second size !
It is way easier to get the right size now (very Naish like... Small size steps)
