I begun it as a "welcome back" message for fokiten as after some hard threads he was blamed for his post about safety (based in misunderstandings).

fo, in my opinion all lives could have been saved, if everyone stays within the precautions alwasy given.
e.g. distance is your friend, get the kite down when you see a dark cloud before the gust is hitting, make sure the lines are not tangled, etc.

The problem I see is that we overjudge our skills. I know it from myself, when something dark comes my way. I say to myself, I will make it.... But then I make sure nothing is in my way and the wind is not onshore. The second I notice that the wind is changing direction in combination with a dark cloud, I get my kite down immediately always be ready to pull the safety.

The safety rules should be more in the head of people while on the water. It is no problem to enjoy the sport, but whenever before dangerous situations we should anticipate more and see problems before they have consequences.

Therefore it is good to talk about safety many times to get it into our minds, also I think the KSI database is an advantage for us riders to avoid the mistakes others did.

I saw many riders who just don't care about anything. This is an behavior our community shouldn't accept anymore, since this will lead to bans all around the world.
I don't want this, and I guess no one of you want this neither

Every one of us is responsible for his own destiny.. if we kite during a squall then we reap the consequences. If we kite in crowded beaches and terrorise swimmers then we get banned from that beach.

No amount of saftey rules are gonna stop crazy nutters with no kite leashes, no saftey gear and a love of squalls from getting intimate with a concrete wall of stuck in a tree hanging upside down....

I think we have finnaly shook the cob webs out of this one. Also I think we all agree without question that a resourse like rick is of great value, and we all owe him our thanks for the hours and hours he devotes with out pay for the benifit of all who kite.

Like i said the cassum that separates a outright unmistakable clear warning (my unfortunate proposed solution), and a more supportive, kiteing is a great sport but their are thease safety concerns, approach. Is truly a mile wide and just as true only an inch deep.
What i draw from this is that every single one of us is very concernd about kite safety and that this fact alone bodes well for the future of kiteing, That the emotion is sincere and in the finnal analasise make us true bothers one and all, lets here it for us we all really care!!!
