Hernan i like your system very much /especialy bungee/ but i dont know make it selfmade. I want just buy good system in shop or new kite it shold have it /it is expesive enough to home finish/ Sell your idea to some kite brand!!!

this is my system works fine always releases and dirt is no probs, better than snap shackle.... wichard expensive but very good. the metal ring is key, use nothing that can get jamed...

The QR is much easier to find and release than a shackle. It is symetrical so its always in the same relative position to the rider.
I agree that It is not so easy to rig. You need the right parts and some patience, but it worth the effort.

Well, I really prefer a safety system a la whichard where all your important hardware is attached to your harness and you don't need to fiddle around with to many pins and do on..
just imagine beeing somewhere out in the ocean trying to put all your "complicated" safety system parts together!

About my QR, you have the same number of releases as usual, one for the bar and other for the leash.
In fact, with this system you need only one move to get in or out.
I agree that a shackle could be easier to reattach on the water. With mine you can do it too. With Wipika or Naish systems, forget it.
The "complicated" thing about releases is not founding the release when you need it. The standard rope release of the SShackles is not designed for kiting. They are usually relased in a controlled situation. When you are dragged at full speed, blinded by the water shooting in your face, is very unlikely to found that little swivelling release rope in your shackle.
Here is where a simplier release trigger could made the difference.

Hi Rick, hi everybody,
I have a pin quick release since july 2002 on my wipika bar. After reading a test at a german kitesurfing magazine a tested my/this system under the greatest uplift I could produce in order too see if it releases under pressure. I had no need to use the quick release it in reallity beacause I never got in a dangerous situation so this test was important for my security.
I could release the pin quick release with some effort, I found it too hard for kiters with less power , women for example. I decided to put lots of oil on the pin and around so it would release easier. It worked well. I put oil on it every time before I start. It is part of my starting procedure.
