I wonder  why the new north scepter bar has 2 safety devices in order to crash and/or hold your kite?
1) a conventional kite leash attached to one frontline
and
2) a "grab handle" or socalled "O-shit" loop to the other.

Any ideas why they came up with both? The O shit is for kiters not using a kite leash?

Thus North is kind of officially encouraging kiting without kite leash??? Can't be true!

If you broke your fixed leashed line you still have an option.

Some rideres will use only the grab leash. Still much better than no leash at all.

well:
" If you broke your fixed leashed line you still have an option...."
I think @ that time it will be too late... and the kite is gone... with the wind...
May be that is North's contibution to S's death..a kind of overreaction...
but as was said above ...I also think a kite company should not encourage kiting without kiteleash...

If this is true it's damned dangerous because many kiters will think they can do with the grab leash and will be encouraged to do so by pro riders!!! When they learn that grabs don't work in most cases it will be too late for them or for... us or other bystanders!!!

Andreas:
I'm saying that the grab leash is a backup just in case that you broke the FLYing leashed line where the fixed leash is attached (50-50 chance on broken lines cases). The kite will get uncontrolable but sometimes you still can grab the handle and depower the kite without leting go.

Hey, is crazy thinking that North (and the people behind this brand) is going to do something to promote unsafe practices.
