In the States, if you want 'real-time' - call the local Coast Guard. They're always situated correctly...they have the wind instruments right by the phone...and they do not seem to be too disturbed with simple questions.
In the past I was praying for 'no wind' so the waves would be clean - now I'm happy either way!
Get some.
