c.k.s

thats not really true about the new flysurfers.

turning the psycho's involves braking one half of the kite but it also depowers the other half of the kite as the trailing edge reflexes upwards above the rest of the canopy.

minimizing the turning circle by effectively placing the centre of rotation about 1/5 of the length of the wing in from the up turning tip.

by turning with the bar at exactly half power you have half the trailing edge below and the other half above the rest of the canopy. its a much more effective system than the standard bridling brake turn set up.

so in reality it should be.

4 line lei
4 line lei on pulley bar.
arc type sleds
reflex depowering foils, rhea frenzy, boom and psycho

in no particular order of speed. having recently tried a number of 2003 leis power size for power size, their isn't much in it in terms of turniogn speed for say a 16m lei and a 12m psycho.

sure the foil will always be slower to turn at the lower edge of the wind but the psychos are meant to be flown at almost 45 degrees to the ground, so you never take them as low as leis.

standard 3-4 line ram airs
2 line lei

So is the 15.5 psycho usable for jumping? Is it still fun or is it like the 20+ meter lei's - no fun, just a cruiser?
I can't decide between 12 and 15 - help!

I agree with NIKS - go for the 12.5 if you are in doubt !
The 15.5 is awesome at jumping, especially hangtime - its just quite slow compared to smaller sizes.
I think you gain a lot in the extra speed and faster turning of the 12.5 - so you will really love this size for all low end as well as high end conditions...
I think its the same as a LEI +20 m2 compared to a 16 or 18m2. The latter is way better, although the parked stable power is slightly smaller.
But this does not matter for most of us, as you gain so much power and jumping on one size smaller, and thereby much quicker kite.
Just my opinion !

Thank you
Going for the 12.5, I'll put a review on kite-surf.com when I get the chance!
