Im interested to know if any one has had any problems with their warriors rippping (exploding) as a result of bridle failure?

yes! lost 2 of mine this way and went to LEIs - haven't looked back since. I find the new season inflatables fly much better than the warriors anyway.

Anyway, I know the rep. for FS here and last week we had a discussion on durability on Flysurfer kites, and just to let you know no warrior came back with a production failure in 2002.

There were some (2) kites that ripped, but not because of bridle failure but because of rider default. (I.e. landing the kite full power LE down from zenith onto land or water.) No bridle lines were broke on these occassions but there were rips of 30-50cm in the sailcloth, all easy to repair.

Durability and warrantee is one of the top quality's of Flysurfer, they only use and test the best materials for their kites. And that's a fact.

A softkite that exploded because of a bridle failure is the most fucking bullshit I have ever heard.

If you are not able to fly a softkite you should take a tube or leave open the overpressure valve at the rear of your kite.

If you smash your Flysurfer to the ground you may not be surprised if it explodes.

A tube will do the same !!!!

On the ground - it can happen, yes.

But on the water - LEI's will be able to cope with a full power impact on the surface, most of the time (not always...).

But is'nt that the same for both types ?

In full power crash test (ground or water surface) foils usually come out better in the long term. (Foils can expand the air a bit inside the foil, LEI can't) Bladders and canopy seams on LEI will burst earlier.

That is my impression too - that foils usually can take more impact without getting smashed, than tubes - but it CAN happen to both types, also on the water !

I'm a lurker, this is my first post here. I'm getting into kiting and I have been reading this forum and a few others for information. I'm really dismayed by what I'm seeing here, there seem to be a lot of people coming in here and posting anonymous trash against certain kite vendors, like in this thread and in all of the anonymous posts against Cabrinha. People anonymously trash talking vendors that they have a personal problem with make it really difficult for beginners to do their research into what products to buy. This thread looks to me like somebody that anonymously posted some trash fiction and then replied to it anonymously in order to trash a particular company. I registered before I made this post, and I really think that if you're going to trash a product then you need to register before posting so that we know that you're for real.

And I will say, that in this forum the thrash talk is very very moderate, I would almost call it "very little" - compared to everywhere else, and out in the real world (face to face with other kiters).

So enjoy that it is not that much trash here - and that you can choose whatever brand you like, because they are all extremely good !

Most postings here are from the good (at least moderate) up to the very best kiters around - thats why it might confuse a bit, as the talk sometimes is on so small things/differences, that does not matter for anyone else...

Don't get confused if you are new to the sport - ask your dealer what to get, and you will get a good, useable answer.

Yeah, there's only 4 minutes between the first post and the reply, a pretty short time to find another anonymous who has trashed 2(!) kites... And both from bridle failure? I don't think so.
