"Nevertheless, we do have a responsibility to inform newcomers to the sport that choosing ram airs will handicap them. People outlay big $ to setup in this sport."

-Anon

So what are we really debating here? Best type of kite for Pros or newcomers? Should a newbie ride an X-10?

I ride both inflatables and ARCs (Foil/Sled)
Personally, when I was learning, I felt that the inflatables I was learning on handicapped me, not my ARC 840. Sucker required so much attention in the sky that I could barely get in the straps. Take your eye off it and you're teabaggin along with your leashed board flogging you. In fact, once I got my foil, my progress accelerated.
Didn't need help launching and landing, kite was super stable. Only bad thing was it got OP'd easy, but that was due to technique also.
As for $ outlay, the ARC was cheaper too and I believe more resistant to the abuse a beginner will put the kite through. So I believe it was a better value.

I would recommend the ARC to a newbie anyday.

As for an intermediate and up, I love my F-One inflatable and also my F-ARC. I'm sure I would have a blast on any of the new generation kites. Foil or inflatable.

Don't really care much what a pro does aside from a passing interest in new improvements. I don't plan on buying a new kite every year (been there and done that with windsurfing). I'll ride what I personally feel is best for me and concentrate on getting better with what I have.

p.s. Anono, you really would carry more weight in your argument if you had first hand, on the water experience with both foils and LEIs.

Dont put my name on your posts dude.
Like I said tubes are best for emulating pros and jumping. All your other comments are simply wrong as well as mistating what I had said. And dont talk about responsibility. You seem to be going to unprecedented efforts to mis-inform people.
EVERY Comment youve made could be said about some foils and some tubes. None of them are accurate as to all. My Psycho goes further to the edge than my tubes. My Speed air and Psycho are both more stable at zenith than my tubes. All my tubes roll forward and drop at zenith if the lines go slack (Naish, Wipika) All my foils drift back(flysurfer, Ozone Quadrifoil) in the same conditions. AND Ive jumped higher on my Psycho than I have jumped on anything. What do you have to share based on experience. I doubt youve ever owned a foil.

MARK, if you just register instead of being anonymous - then noone could sign as you !

I think it is shitty to do such a thing (I noticed it right away...), but then again, it is a good way to eliminate anonymous postings here, so the thought could very well have been positive.

Hi here is an fo-update,
Anon's exactly how much trouble is it to make-up a name and register???
The game here is SCOREBOARD trust me, it is.
Mark, Eric, Basher, you all risk damage to your image by not taking a moment to register. We/I like fresh ideas and comments.
The forum is just that a forum.
Basher you will find as time goes by that being right is not so important as being helpfull, If there is any pleasure to be had here it is in feeling that you helped kiting be more enjoyalbe for people. not that you win because you out bashed somone.
This takes time,it took me a while I'm one of the biggest shit storm dick-heads here,I 've said and attacted people because I thought I was right, that it was good for kiting, bottom line it dosen't matter who right what matters is can you make a positive contribution,
DUDES thats scorboard.
I'm done preaching now
carry on.

How low can you go.... Anon's now putting other people's names under his posts just to gain credibility....

Could you please enlighten what your real motive is? The topic was on foil usage by the top 50 and now you are the protector of the beginners also, just take it all in 1 line huh?

Their are lots of good foil riders around, but maybe they do not need the "immense thrill" of competition and just want to rip in their own spots and travel around to enjoy the real fun of kiting in new locations. Guys like Rob Hassel, Chris Calthrop, Jens Siegert, Ted Bautista, Lachlan Bleed, Steffen Cook all rip and let you show that you can do everything just as well on a good foil.

I quit this thread, you're starting to look like a 14 year old kid that's doing everything to prove he is right, because that's what he believes.

Cheers, Frank

Mark -- I APOLOGISE.

I didn't mean to put your name on MY post.

When I reply to a posting, I like to copy posts I'm addressing, paste them to the empty window, and address each issue raised before deleting it and putting my own view forward.

I forgot to erase your name at the end of the posting - completely accidental - Apologies once again.
