PL has a curved bar for this purpose,
this is how I set up a straight bar for 8.5 Cquad.
The bar ballances steering inputs to front and brake lines. Pulling front lines give you power as the kite turns. Using only brake lines to turn will kill the power.
Brake lines at the ends
Front lines about 40 cm apart. (centered)
QR chicken loop.
Leash connected to a vee line tied to both brake lines. (pull the leash and stop over-flying if needed)
The key IMO, is to have long 1/4in or 3/8in rope leaders. This allows you to safely grab the lines for extra steering input.
Have several knots on the front leader lines to trim for the conditions.
I can quickly grab a front or backline to accelerate a turn or recover a luff.
(looks like someone playing a 4 string harp
