I'm now using a X2 20 as my lighwind kite. I like it but in fact it needs about 10-12 knots to have fun. This is somehow disapointing as at the same time , your friends are flying 16 mts kites wiith good results.
The 20 parks earlier and have better hang time but at the expense of slower turning and less "salt".
Does the Rhino 20 have better light wind performance?
I want more power at lower end and faster turning, would the R2 20 give me that?

Hi,
Maybe I'm wrong, but to my mind, 16m² is the best biggest size.
I have a 16 m² Rhino 1, and can use it happily at 10 knots.
I have seen some Rhino 2, and a friend of mine
tested it, and it seems that it needs less wind
than the previous version.
O.

Yes, the 20m R2 is the kite you're looking for.

Just this past weekend, a local rider showed up at the beach with a 20m X2 he had just bought used off the web. The next day he walked into the local kite shop and asked about buying the 20m Rhino2. He was very unhappy with the X2 20m. We have 3 local guys riding the 20m Rhino2, so he knows what they perform like.

The 20m R2 will get you riding and going upwind in 8 knots, and NOT feel like a tractor pulling you downwind. It is a quick nimble kite that jumps great.

The 18.1 mach one still rules as a light wind beast. It never feel like a tractor, especially on 22m lines, turns fast and can hang on till a dense British 15knots - ie 17-18 of your foreign skinny wind. Used with a wide board of 40cms and up it will get me going (87 kgs) in 7 - 8 knots (my big board is a self made 147 x 47 with flat rocker). Remember - big kites need bigger boards to getthe best from them, they do not work well with 140 x 37 for eaxample, especially as these sizes usuall have more rocker.

Toby,
72 kg, board AHD 158.
In fact, my new "really low wind" kite is a psycho 15.5

My friend tested the rhino 2 16 m² in less than 10 knots, around 8/9 and was able to ride without problems.
Same board than I, AHD 158, and a little bit more than 80 kgs !

How is about bar pressure?
The X2 is very light and I like it.
