We had a lot of posts about boardshape but didn't really post about the fins. The boards are getting shorter and we know the differences of rocker, outline, railsharpness, etc.

Strong current, going easily upwind, big jumps, low wind, gusty wind, choppy : you need big fins. With big I mean long and deep fins. ( Big surface)

High wind, steady winds, waveriding?, flat water : small fins.

But what about the outline, thickness, symmetric or assymetric, flex or stiff. Are big fins working against you in high winds?
Are assymetric fins only good in high winds? How big can your fins be on small boards?

I'm making 3,5 mm thin carbon/glass fins 6 cm deep sharky look ( like TFC-fins), assymetric, 13 cm long. I will use them on my 1,40 x 34 x 1,4 cm with 2,5 continuous radius rocker. Hope it will work.
