really small kite

Postby Pablo » Wed Feb 26, 2003 10:46 pm

If I had a kite lets say 5 sqm, what would be its low end?
I thnk that it should be capable of generatng more pull compared to a bigger kite, since it would be really fast and so the apparent wind huge.
would I be riding upwind in 30 knots? (66 kg, 138 tt)

I'm 70 kg, and I've been riding in gusty 20/26 knots with a 8 sqm friends kite,
So I think that you could reach 30 knots with a 5 one.
These small kites are really differents than bigger one. They fly like mosquitos, fast, fast, fast !!!
You can switch from a no-power kite to a pulling-like-hell one in a very short time...
You know, seriously, 30 knots means lot of power. Can be fun, but it's living on the edge

the reason for this kite is that some days ago we had these conditions, and the smallest kite I had was a 8sqm npw5, and I was wayy overpowered, it was imposible to egde in the gusts
this would be a 'sheared' kite, so always someone has an eye on you if anything happens.
