Is there much difference between the 17 and 20 inch bar. I ask as I'm trying to cut the weight on gear I travel with and taking one 17 inch bar would be more prefferable.

I use a 14" bar I cut down with my 12m and all so used to use it with my 14m RPM's. I use a 17" bar with my 17m Turbine so yeah your 17" bar will work. You will have to get used to the changing in how much you have to pull but it's fine really.

Whats your line length on the 17m turbine?

I'm running 27m lines on my Turbine. It does work fine with the 14" bar but the kite is so heavy that it ends up in the water too much. Switched back to the 17" just for that reason.

I have always used just one 20" bar for a 9m, 12m, and 15m, but recently just bought and started using the 23" bar (with 27m lines) for my 15m and I was surprised at how much difference there is due to bar length. The kite steers much quicker and is just easier to fly. That said, for traveling on a plane where space and weight are critical I'd bring only the 20" bar. If I'm going in a car I'll bring it all.
