The velcro should just sit tight - it will "rip" open instantly, if you let the bar go...
Don't worry.
It is there so the front lines sit tight and don't get messy, when you are NOT flying your kite.

Hi Peter, I,ve posted a review on the Wook's on this site recently. I found the 12 excellent but the 16.5 needed loads more wind than the Takoon brochure states before it came alive and started to go upwind well.
i'm going to try the shorter lines on it as the turning was a little slow for me.
Have you used the 17m Skoop 2 yet and what is the turning like on that one? I'm thinking of getting the 17 instead of the 16.5
