Either a front or a back kite line can be used as the leashed line. They both work.

If you leash to your wrist, then probably a back line is better. If you leash to your spreader bar, then probably a front line is neater.

Some people report that a kite with a front line leash will spin less when the leash is deployed. But a few kite rotations can occur with either.

I personally find the current Naish type system with a front line sliding ring type of leash provides a clean simple setup. And it allows you to do one or two rotations and it will still work.

A front line is slightly better, but both can be used.

If using a frontline, your kite won't make a "turn" when released, which gives a more clean release, and it is also usually easier to make a self landing with the leash (because you dont open the tip when pulling the leash).

But the real advantage comes in using a standard ring-ring safety leash.

This is far better on the fronts, as they wont give you a messy dangling bungee leash, and you wont stretch the leash when steering on the bar.

So using the fronts, you have a leash neatly located along the depower line, which won't get in the way.

Thats why everyone uses the fronts nowadays - although you could easily use the backlines also, no problems in that.

Yep, fronts for me with ring ring reride. Also, if you use a high load swivel between the spreader and the shackle and you leash to the bale of your shackle you never never get a tangle. Works better than that Flysurfer rotoleash business
