Andre with his trophy ... and some funky squall clouds moving away up the Straits

Hello Eli,

There was wind on Thursday and on Sunday for the competition at the Islamorada Kiteboarding Invitational . Andre did indeed win and had more wind than he would like along with the other finalists in the last heat. A broad spectrum of riders came from all over and put on an excellent show yesterday! A strong cold front passed over just before the final heat was run and boosted winds up into the mid to upper 30 mph range with higher gusts dead offshore. There was a nice Florida squall with high winds just before the front slid over with a 90 degree wind shift and strong gusts. I shot a ton of digital stills and video which will be uploaded with a summary soon. Mina was there as well shooting away so I imagine there will be A Lot of great images. Our very own Toby was there and rode in the amateur competition despite being under the weather with a cold. Stay tuned lots more to follow with lots of in-flight action shots of riders styling and shredding hard!

Hey Nik and Eli,

You folks have quite a talent in Andre, nice guy too. It was a real pleasure to see him tossing out move after move at the competition. They were at least 1/2 mile offshore for the final heat given high offshore winds. I filmed it in digital video with 100x zoom. The guys were still small but you could see them bulldozing a pile of spray and were almost bent double edging for all they were worth. Seeing them rip loose with jumps and flying HI was entertaining. I am glad that I wasn't a judge as the quality of riding was high with lots of great kiteboarders. Also thanks to Brad Lange and his wife Malea of SevenSports for organizing and carrying on the event and to all the sponsors that made it possible.

Congrat's. again to Andre and to Antigua!!!

Yes, Andre' was great!! And it was not easy, there were some great guys riding that day. I think what puts andre above them is his smooth effortless island style. Way to go!!
Great plug for Antigua!!!
