living on the road

Postby lepoissonrouge » Fri Apr 04, 2003 9:03 pm

This is kind of off topic i guess but does anyone/has anyone(here) live out of a van and travel around kitesurfing. I am doing an instructorship :and intend to leave the house/office life :D and make a go of living off instructing.
it is a bit daunting and i was wondering if any of you have done it. :o

Dude,

Just bought myself a 75 Volkswagen Westfalia van. I'm leaving in July, touring west coast British Columbia, down to the Gorge, then down Baja.

Don't know when I'll be coming home. See you out there!!

best of luck fella, to make the best go of it you really need to trip plan in advance, an online boking system might help you with this, as would getting into bed with some of the shops that get real busy during the summer before you leave....

Poisson,

Go for it fella, I vanned it around europe for best part of 10 years... wind, surf and kitesurf before landing in Cornwall and setting up a kitesurf shop in '98.. still bin mostly living in a van 'till quite recently... the joys of running your own business!

I make regular trips out to tarifa on the van tip and its pretty accomodating for that life style out there... chances are you will end up there as you can't go any further south or west without going to africa. Turn up there insured to teach with IKO and you are laffing.

I have client accommodation set up and will be running some courses out there for next winter season and i may be able to help you out.. drop me a line if ya like.

good Luck,

Sean.
