Is anybody using this hook from Solid?

Image

I saw Toby mentioned it last September in the forum. Perhaps there is someone who has tested it? How much does it cost?

Hmmm, looks interesting! Not sure I understand all I know about that thing. Anybody have a link to more info or even to Toby's original post on the subject? Thanx!

that's all we talked about.
Don't have any prices, didn't see any at the website. Don't know anyone tested it yet, but I'm sure to see on at the King of the Coast Testival.
Will let you know!

That is if your German goes beyond five
letter words. This looks pretty techincal.

Perhaps one of you kind volk would translate the important bits for us mono-lungual types. Thanks.

they are just explaing what is happening when pulled.
On the pic you can see everything.
The hook on Solid's website doesn't work due the angles (an engineer told me).
But the hook on the pic I posted from Solid will work (this was taken out of a magazine).
We should wait on an independent st from a kiter who bought it.

I saw the advert in the magazine and I was quite impressed! Maybe this could work!? The most interesting part is that the hook together with the safety line is able to turn around his axis. That means hooked 360 moves should be possible.

We need some test results!

Flysurfer has a chicken loop with a safety release system. Looks like a simpler solution.

Ya - Ya....Velcro - Schmelcro. It get's all nasty...weak with age...yatta-yatta.

Cheap emotional security it is - you can tell your Mother it's now safe to kite - but an elegant solution it is not.

Try this one: overlay the picture of the Solid bar on top of Peter Lynn's new spinning hook. Then imagine pulling the PANIC lever...and the complete hook releasing.

That will overcome the objection of perhaps the hook not releasing the chicken loop at all angles. It's outta there!

Of course, you'd either need spare hooks or a short line with a float on it. But Hell - if I thought I was goona die, I'd pop $20 for an extra hook to tuck in my kit!

Be safe - stay under your bed.

Cheers.
