Here you can find some detailed shots of the batten tuning of an ARX 15.5.
The result is good, makes the kite turn faster. Don't expect too much, but it is definitely faster
Price: approx. Euro 50, if it is done by a professional seamer.
This was done by http://www.sailloft.de in Hamburg, Germany

Here you can see how the batten is sewed at the inside and tip of the kite. Since the batten is under tension, the kite doesn't flutter:

This is the frontside of the kite where a small bag holds the batten and protects it from moving:

At the backside the batten goes through a little bag and then you can put tension on the batten while closing it with double velcro:

To get better quality, since the material is quiet thin, here the outside of the kite:

Closer shot of the reinforcement at the outside of the kite:

HI Ryan,

The batten is made out of stuff similar to carbon, but cheaper. Like what is used for windsurfing sails nowadays.

The sewed material is the name material as used for your harness which holds the bar.

Would this work and improve my Cabrinha Blacktip 2001? I'm the owner of a 9.4m2 projected.

The material on the tips is much different, stiffer.

Any experience?

Did you try it with shorter lines yet?
I couldn't feel a big improvement with the battens but with shorter lines.

toby ,you have in your forum the best way to improve cabrina ,its not only battening the tip but cutting the tip the way the cabrina 2002 looks(just look few pages back).
do you think the same thing will work on the ar5(13.5).

I don't know if it works on a AR5. But try shorter lines, you will be amazed!
I use my ARX 15.5 with 20 m lines and it became a lot of fun.

17 m might be too short since the kite has its diameter. With too short lines it will be push together too much and it won't fly or pull. Try 20, 23 or 25m lines if you can and let us know the result.
