chicken loop / hard line ..how to?

Postby sandyisland » Tue May 06, 2003 4:24 pm

What is the preferred length of the hard line as to the chicken loop? Shorter? , Longer? Same? Do you off set it back, forward??? …Resting my arms would be nice once in awhile…thanks

The fixed loop (hard line) has to be quite a lot longer than the chicken loop (otherwise your chicken loop it too big....).

And it is always underneath your chicken loop, so you just swing the fixed loop up into your hook whenever you need it.

Trim the length, so you are not fully powered, but okay powered, as this will make it much easier and better to use, and you go faster upwind, and wont get ripped in gusts.

Above is what most riders use.

But if you have an open chicken loop trimmed so you can hook out of it, and still kitesurf - then it is another matter (used by some beginners).
The fixed loop and chicken loop has to be of almost equal length then - just the fixed a tad longer, so you can hook out of it again without losing your CL.
