What kind of low end can I expect on an R2 20 at 200lbs (90K)?
Thank you

it begins with about 8 knots with a big board.
it ends about 12 - 14 knots with a small board.
the rhino2 has a very very little spectrum for having a good ride.

What does that mean?
It's one of the best big kites in the world. A bold and true statement.

I totally disagree with above comments about limited range of the R2 20m. I am about the same weight as above (85kg) and ride the 20m with a 136 board in 8 knots no problem - in fact I am usually the last guy on the water when the wind drops.
Top end of the 20m is closer to 17 knots, but I think this depends on how hard you are prepared to edge. I have found the kite has a limited de-power but can be controlled in overpowered conditions by edging to push it to the edge of the window.
Also, when most kites have to be worked hard in light conditions, the 20m has good low end and can be parked very early.

Yeah I agree, I dont hink Niko is talking from experience.
Myself I am 73Kg and I find on my 20 it is realistic to get up and going on a small board in 9 kts. Jumps are ok but you really gotta get your timing just right.
This kite can have serious high end too. On saterday we started with a light day so I was on the 20m. By the afternoon if had peaked to 30kts. When I put the 20m doen it must have been at least 18 to 20 kts. I will admit that at that wind speed it was really overpowering, but the kite can still be driven to the edge (unlike the old rhino1). I have often taken this kite to 17kts and had a lot of fun.
Cant say enought good things about the R2 20 myself!!!!!

Fatty,
It's a pleasure. Glad to hear you're having as much fun on it as I am on mine. I now am looking at the Rhino2 14m. Me thinks the perfect quiver is all R2 in sizes 20 14 10.
At least for my local spot anyway!!!!

Yes 20 then 14 is the best step! Several of the better riders here have had to change there quiver because the 16 18 are both too close to the 20 apparently you can hold the 20 in more wind than you can the 16??

Yeah, fat bloke's right, I am grateful to guys in the forum for recommending the 20m.
Also I think that the 14m is a good choice with the 20m. I used to ride a AB 10 (14 flat) and switched to the 14m R2 after buying the 20m. I am still getting used to the power of the 14m at the top end, but have found its comes in at the high end of the 20m very well.
I am yet to get a 10m R2 and am still on my 6.3 AB which is a bit of a struggle - generally overpowered on my 136, unless insane winds.

I have had my R20 for 7 months now and still get strange looks from other kiters when I tell them it's my favorite kite.
I would agree that bottom end would be 8-10 knots but I have to disagree with the top end. For me up to 18 is great but after that the tips start to collapse. Pump it up hard but still collapses when a gust comes through and you try and edge it to the front of the window.
I have a 12 16 & 20 R2 but if I could change sizes I would have 10 14 20.
Alex
