Today ... I became a man!

Postby Puetz » Fri Jul 11, 2003 11:35 am

G'day All,

I had my first good wind, I was able to stay upwind and yes, I did my first jumps. I entered the water a boy, came out a man. I will remember the first one. 10 feet or so, not big by any means but when you add 6'5" at 120 kilos, that must be alot of forces involved, you'd think laws of physics would keep me on the water. Anyway I am blown away, proberly be buzzed for days. I haven't had any lessons so when I yanked back, up I went. I've watched the good guys and I noticed that they pull back forward quickly so I did this but I think not soon enough because I would hit the water hard. Practice, at least for next time.

Now I really know why this sport is so good, gimmie more.

Regards Robert.

It's very funny, because after my first really session I had the same feeling. After this I send an sms to my kitefriend and told them exactly the same words - today I became a man...
I'll never forget this :bye:

G'day All,

I wanted to talk to the good guys, all buzzed and talking like a school girl at a rock concert, but thought better not, might seem un-cool, me with my up, down 10 foot jump, them and their 15 feet, double back loop wizzy one handed thingy's, play it cool and pretend I'm one of them now.

Cool isn't it.

Regards Robert.

Congrats Robert!

Although the first is incredible, it will soon become a faint memory because each time you go out it gets better and better. Each session is worlds better than the last for me.

That is kiteboarding!

Hi Robert,
Well Done! The feeling of leaving the beach and returning to the same spot (ie not downwind) is a tremendous one.

What is the kiting scene around Darwin like? I know the beaches are spectacular but aren't you shit scared of crocs/stingers? Real incentive to land those jumps!

So give us the Darwin rundown...............

P.S I sail SW Vic
