Caribbean kitesurfing

Postby d_niv » Wed Jan 03, 2007 4:09 pm

Where is the best place to go kiting in the Caribbean at the end of this month (January)?
As I'm about to spend only one week there, I want to take as less chances as possible with the wind statistics.
I herd good things about Bonier and St. Lucia.

Any information will be very helpful.

*Flat water conditions is requierd.

Cheers,

Niv

El Coche in Venezuela is flat water and windy at that time. If it's the best I don't know, but what's not good in the Carabean ? It's paraidse

You won't be disappointed with St. Lucia, mostly flat and some bump and jump spots. Trades are super-consistant in January

I spent 8 days on Bonaire last March. The island is owned by the Dutch. The locals flew 12m C kites everyday. One guy flew a 16m on a 5th line. You will see a lot a great kiters there.

The kite beach is on the downwind side of the island. There is a boat that will pick you up for $10 if things go wrong. I only saw one guy get picked up in the 8 days that I was there. This island is very flat where kite beach is located, so the wind remains clean

Since the winds are offshore, there is nice flat water to kite on.

Honeymoon in the Caribbean

Postby karen » Wed Jan 03, 2007 9:40 pm

Hi Randal!!

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials and subsequent kite holiday... er, sorry... honeymoon, indeed! (Did you really have to get married to go on a kite holiday?)

Summer in the Caribbean means Trade Winds!! :-)

You can consider Cabarete, which has amazing wind in the summer! There are now beautiful accommodations availble just steps from the beach- both you and your bride will be happy! Luxury accommodations, privacy, security, pools, concierge services... great kiteboarding, restaurants, nightlife, surfing, horseback riding... Or, just relaxing under the sun.

You may also think about St. Croix. Beautiful water and lots of kiteboarding possibilities. It is much more quiet than Cabarete, but this may be more of what you would want. Downside is that there's not much to do where you'll be riding, whereas in Cabarete, you can ride and she can hang out or shop or do her thing right there in the same area. Here, there are very nice hotels or houses available.

There are other places, too, of course...

If I can help you with anything- planning your holiday to just simple questions, please send me a pm and I'm happy to help!

Happy New Year!
Karen
