Teauhupoo Photo

Postby cholas » Sat Apr 28, 2007 8:16 am

There recently was an insane photo of Teauhupoo Tahiti linked in here and I can't seem to find it now.
The water was draining off the reef downhill into the oncoming sucking monster.

Anyone can repost it or link me to it??

If you just scooted across the break zone in front of the wave on a small day.. does that count enough to say you "kited Teauhupoo?"

Jeeezuz.. that is one thick wave. Enough water in that puppy to fill any reservoir in my town. Just one wave and the reservoir is overflowing!

I've never seen a wave that sucks water downhill off the reef like that, think how shallow that has to be once it's on the reef.
Makes me wonder how old the oldest guy is to have ridden full on gnarly teahupoo, both for paddle in and tow in.
I'm in my 50's, have surfed Hawaii all my life, but at this point, I think I'd be like most everyone else in that photo and just sit in the channel for a frontrow seat.

That sound you hear is the water sucking off the reef. Probably sounds like a tornado! Can you say HELP?
