How is it? Launch area and all typical questions ... Major wind direction (on-off?) , size of waves, speed of wind? lot of swimmers , of kites? sharks? Is there a nice area? Thanks for answers :thumb: . julien@hawaii.com

Waddel Creek is where most kiters kite near Santa Cruz. It is about 15 miles North of town. The launch is nice sand, the water is about 52 degrees and over the years a few people have been attacked by great white sharks. Average wind speed is about 20 knots and the direction is side on. There are usually no swimmers, a few windsurfers and too many kiters on weekends. It is a beach break, not a point break. It is home base of Caution kites and a big contest each Spring.
