I have a friend who put this on his wood alaia type board. It is pretty clear (not clear as glass but as clear as white wax when applied I would say...so you can still see the wood nicely). I was skeptical about how the grip would be because it is not "sandy" which is nice since it would not abrade your skin). Surprisingly the grip was like freshly applied wax. So far, it seems to be the closest thing to wax I have seen without the downsides of wax. I put a waffle pad on one wood board I wanted some cushion on, but on another waxed board I am going to use this wax mat.
