Finding inserts under carbon

I have my inserts in the foam and the bottom partly glassed. How will I find my inserts on the deck under the carbon? What do I use to keep the threads from filling up with epoxy, wax, mold release?

i use wax... just melt a candle, fill the holes and you're set.
good question regarding finding your insert under carbon - i'm wondering the same thing, but my issue is finding the inserts under a formica layer.

The inserts we use come with a cap that is somewhat magnetized. You can sprinkle iron filing dust over the board that will show where the inserts are.
If you are using normal tee-nuts, make a map with plastic or paper of where they are located before you laminate, then use a pin to find the holes while the resin is still wet.
Just open up the weave a bit so you'll be able to find them later.
Drill them out AFTER the hot-coat, and clean the thread with a 1/4 X 20 bottoming tap.

Thanks for the info! I'll make a jig to place the inserts and use it afterwards to find their location.

scribe lines on your rocker table that line up to cross over the inserts.
or ditch that wet layup shit and use pre-preg, then they are super obvious.

After the hot coat filler has been sanded,just spray laquer primer and it will show up.
