I wonder what are the advantages of NOT using fins on a kiteboard!
I really havent found any! It might get a litlle lighter
Does anyone have an opinion about that?

i think it has to do with being able to grind on sliders and other objects without having to worry about the fins. You use the edge of the board to get upwind anyway so the fins don't have a huge effect on performance. They will help hold an edge in high wind. hope this helps.

Maybe in the waves, were you turn more and change from heel to toe side much, the fins make a difference, but not in cruising!
The rail makes all the work by it self!

I'll make my board finless and see how it works, but probably only in a couple of weeks from now!

today after work the wind lightened up, so I could only do downwinders along the shore line and over the very shallow (3cm), sandbars.

I was basically "Kite Skimboarding", only possible with a finless board.

I think riding finless for a while when breaking in a board is good training, then add your fins to help stability for all out speed, and positive control in waves.

I don't see any reason for not using fins, is way more confortable and stable, but try anyway and give us your feedback.

Not using fins on a custom made board makes it a bit less workier

boards go faster as well and they can be a lot of fun in flat water IMO

Finless boards are much better in light wind for the simple reason that there is substantially less drag. The problem is that you need strait or side cut rails to give a finless board good stability. Convex shaped rails make a finless board to unstable and the ride becomes too technical. Strait rails lock in much better but side cut rails are as stable as having fins. Combine this with a very small or no rocker and you have an amazing light wind board. Combine that with a fair amount of flex and you have an amazing light wind board that can also handle a fair amount of power too.

I am currently using a side cut finless board that has as much or more stability than my boards with fins.
