Glass question

When you say coat of "glass", do you mean epoxy, polyaster or what?

and

Can you get a glassy finish by wight pressing formica over a nylon layer?
(don't have time for the vacuum technology )

When we say "glass" this means epoxy over fiber glass, carbon, or your material of choice. If your not vacume bagging then I sudgest PVC foam with a few layers fiber glass and epoxy. you can get a nice glassy finish by doing a hot coat over your fiber glass.

Glassy coats are easy you can fill all the imperfections then wet sand the hell out of the board then do a top coat of epoxy.
You would be surprised how fast a wet sand will smooth a surface

I was able to get a very smooth glass finish, and without sanding at all, stright out of the mold. I use a piece of formica, and vacume bagged it. It gets all of the bubbles out and makes a smooth finish you don't have to sand later.
