i made a plywood board that works good and now want to make a real board that is a little more advanced. what are the differant wasy of making a board what does it need and what tools are needed. i like the feel of zero gravity kiteboards becasuse of how they handle the chop and there thin round edges how much would it cost to make a board similer to that and what tools and supplies would be needed. whats the cheapest way possible of doing so. ive searched the forum and havnt realy found anything everything has been too complex for me to understand.

Laz ,try a veneer board with ABS rails ,you can try a glass board with ABS ,rails, or a carbon board with ABS rails .Just depends on your budget and what you want . Your best off using a vacuum when making . Have you got a picture of your woody?

isnt veneer just that thin wood?

It is .We use 1.5mm .Its whats underneath the veneer . Core ,lay up etc .The veneer boards are more technical to build especially if you do a strip veneer lay up that looks like a candy bar.

Composite Woods are fun, curv"ey(concave and 3 stage rocker), lighter and tuffer than just a sheet of ply. You can use fiberglass, foam etc in construction, No vacuum bag needed. Old fashion fomica board would be fun, but the wood veneer boards are lighter tougher.

could i make a plexiglass board with a balsa core how would i cut it

You could ,the problem with balsa is ,if you ding your board it will turn to paper machay.When balsa is wetted out its heavy .Try styrofoam or honeycomb for the core . This will not split under the laminates when layed up . There is no easy way to make a good board .

this may be a stuped question but could i just cut foam to the shape i want the board then put fiberglass cloth and epoxy and resin on it . what foams could i use and where could i get them.
