Holes and sealing ply around T Nuts - Poly enough?

Hi - Quick Question

About to drill the holes through a ply board for putting in T nuts and my question is....

Can I get away with sealing with poly - from the advice on the forum I plan to do a spit coat half thinner/half poly then 6 or so coats of poly but is poly enough to stop the water getting in and delamming the board where the holes/T Nuts are????? I don't have the patience or access to materials here for epoxy.
