Im about to start building my first kiteboard (138 * 43 TT).
My plan is to build it whit:
4,6mm ply
foam core (isolation, JACKOFOAM 200 F) 12,5mm
4,6mm ply
then cover it whit glass (300 g/m² or 165 g/m²) and epoxy. The foam is 50mm thick, so i can grind it down to the basic shape whit a lite rocker, 30mm. Then bend the ply to fit the shape of the foam. The foam core dosen´t go all the way to the tip (the foam will cover about 85% of the board), will the tip be to weak??? Where i live we have a lot of choppy water.
Is this ok

you dont need ( or want) the foam

two sheets of plywood will easly match your rocker of choice.
once set, add a layer of glass ( 4-6 oz) top and bottom to get the desired stiffness.

depending on your choice of wood, you may not need glass for strength.
the glass will aid in wear and water resistance.
but if you dont actually need it for strength, i would pass on this step as well and just coat the board with urethane varnish or paint.

Take 2 layers of the 4,6 mm ply, glue them in a rocker table (or something similar) to make a core and cover top and bottom of the core with 1 layer of 165 gr/sqm glass.

As already stated above: you do not need the foam, if you shoud use it additionally you will have zero flex...

Generally: When using foam ,there is no need to shape the rocker curve. You will get the rocker corve when pressing wood/foam/glass or whatever in your rocker table.

Tips made out of 4,6 mm wood covered with 165 gr/sqm glass on both sides will be good.
