First woody Board Done Woot!!!!

Postby pdkite » Mon Jan 26, 2009 7:17 pm

hey guys just finished my first board!!!

Thanks for all your help with the construction tips!!

It is made of 1/16" birch veneers. It is 5 layers thick in the middle, 3 at the tips. the second layer from the bottom has the grain running 90 degrees to the other layers for strength. I glued everything together with epoxy. There is also a layer of 200g/m2 biaxle glass on the top and bottom and small patches in between layers 3 and 4 around the footstraps.

I cut all the layers, fit them then v-bagged them together. The glassing was done afterwards by hand. The inserts went in during the initial layup - they kept all the layers from shifting.

I stained some parts of the board for looks. It measures about 129 x 39 cm. it has 4.5mm of concave in the center and 3.5 cm 3 stage rocker.
